They are both SPF 50+ PA++++ which means they offer high levels of protection against UVB & UVA rays. The watery essence is a chemical sunscreen whereas the watery gel is a hybrid chemical & mineral sunscreen. Scentīoth of these sunscreens have the same citrus & alcohol scent. I would probably think of the watery gel as more of a watery milk, to be honest. Whereas the watery gel had visible white specs in it which left a subtle white cast on my skin, and it also felt matte/ slightly dry on the skin yet still had a lightness and smoothness to it. When working the product into the skin, the watery essence was very light, refreshing, smooth and did not leave a white cast at all. Whereas, the watery gel is not at all what I would attribute a gel to be as it has actually got an off white milky appearance, does not hold its form and is very runny in consistency so it easily drips when I move my hand – not something a gel would usually do. When you first squeeze the products out you can see that the watery essence has a semi-translucent pale green-yellow gel appearance, and has a consistency that is similar to a gel in that it is light and able to hold its form, yet it is also thin like an essence. In my opinion, they can both be used for the body and face as it really depends on skin type, so it would be great if the essence was also 90ml instead of 50g. There is a 40g difference in quantity between the two sunscreens, this is because the watery gel which is 90ml, is meant to be used for the face and body, whereas the watery essence is primarily for the face. They both have a beautiful blue gradient on the packaging to symbolise Aqua (water). Quantity & PackagingĪs you can see in the image below the watery gel comes in a 90ml bottle whereas the watery essence is in a much smaller squeeze tube with only 50g of product. ![]() If you would like to read my separate detailed reviews for each of these products, please click on the links at the end of this post.
